Nice work! what is a choupic? looks like the invasive snake head??? BTW I need another channel cat for my pond. My last one died last year after 15+ years and going from 4" to 34".
Thanks! Looks similar to a snake head, but it is a different species. The tail is round and the fish does not taper to a pointed tail. The Choupique is a native species. A.K.A. the mud fish or bowfin.

Taking a break Thursday (Cut the grass, clean fish, bury fish carcasses in the garden bed), then redfishing Friday, and back catfishing Saturday. I am gonna use the hell out of that boat this summer, did not fish in it last summer.

Very nice project came out great. Sounds like a great vacation as well. Glad your catching fish

Very relaxing, not hot, no bugs....and a few fish biting. Great day! But- I forgot my life vest at home, had to drive 15 miles further to buy a new one at the walmart in Morgan City. Then I realized I forgot my dip net too! LOL! That cost me two nice 3-4# channel cats, but I did not care, still had enough fish to dirty a knife and have a few meals...
That is a sweet shallow water ride!!!!

Also known by some as a Grinnell.
Sure are fun to catch.
Most folks don't eat 'em but most who do say to keep 'em alive, or on ice, and cook ASAP or they get mushy.

True that. Choupique make great fish patties for this reason.

Congrats good lookin Red. You should have said screw the catfish and caught the gator :emoji_laughing:

Illegal.....out of season. Though new rules soon; the state will go to a recreational gator season this year. Gator season is only open for 2 weeks in September.
