Just finished up my last bag of pinto beans, so I picked up a new bag while I was out and about.

Haven't bought bacon since I started making my own, love CB & BBB.

Sure was a nice tasting pot of beans.

Awesome! I love pintos, but have never heard of anasazi beans. Thanks for turning me on to something new -- I'll have to seek some out. Was CB the only seasoning you used? I typically throw in salt, garlic, onion, and cayenne with my pintos. Sometimes I'll sneak in some bacon grease, too, esp if I'll be re-frying leftovers. I like to slow cook them in a Crock Pot with some hocks -- I don't have a pressure-cooker, that's something else I'll have to try.

Also, Jiffy cornbread is too sweet (even though I like it) to be considered *real* cornbread. Take it from a guy who grew up in Georgia. Here's the real thing (easiest method):

2 cups self-rising cornmeal
2 cups buttermilk
1 egg
1/4 cup shortening (read *BACON GREASE*)

Melt shortening (bacon grease) in 10-1/4' cast-iron skillet while preheating oven. Mix milk and egg with self rising stone ground corn meal. Pour melted shortening (bacon grease) into batter and then batter into hot greased cast iron skillet and bake at 400º until browned.

You'll know it's done if you can stick a toothpick in the middle of it and it comes back clean. If your skillet is well seasoned and doesn't have anything burnt into it, then the whole thing will pop out easily when you flip it over onto a plate.

Now that looks like a good plate of food there Beer. I really like a good beans over corn bread too.

Those beans look great. We've been eating more beans lately. Trying to eat less meat

I have a pressure cooking with black eyed peas on the stove resting at this moment. Recently had cannellini and chick peas. One of my favorite is black beans done in the Cuban style

These are really good beans. The 10 lb bag last me about 3 months on the average.

Thanks for the recipe, looks just like my moms. I mostly just add a little salt and some bacon to my beans, keeping it pretty simple.
