And on top of that its Taco Tuesday!
Soooo.... Its margaritas Taco Twos-day!!!😉

Here is somerhing I have not done in a long time....
Beer margaritas! When I was in my early 20s we would get a group of guys together and have a "funday Sunday".. (Pretty much every Sunday)
We would grill a bunch of stuff all day and make these "beer margaritas.

Crushed ice
Frozen lime-aid concentrate
Corona
Triple sec
cabo

Fill a blender with the crushed ice, a half can of the frozen concentrate, 3 shots tripple sec, 3 shots cabo and one corona. Blend until smooth.

Not a real margarita but ive drank my fair share of them and they always go down good!
If you make them today just make sure you have some tacos with them!!

Oh! And do it twice! 😜

Margarita day is good! Especially when it's crappy freezing drizzle and snow mix outside. But the bright side is if I have too many and fall down I can blame it on the ice! :emoji_blush:

I picked up a bottle of Dr. Swami and Bone Daddy’s Low Calorie Margarita Mix and Uncle Dick’s “skinny Dog” Margarita Mix to put to the test. The regular Bone Daddy's is great. This one still uses regular sugar but tot to bad. Now to figure out how to turn left over ribs into taco's.

One time for Cinco de Mayo, I made a bug pitcher of margaritas that my wife though was too strong. Nothing heavy handed just not the sweet drinks she was used to. I ended up finishing thst pitcher and well it wasn't fun the next day. Anyway, she wanted to try it again and here we are...

We make Jackaritas.

1 part triple sec
1 part Jack Daniels
2 parts sweet and sour

My lady will hardly drink any others.

I love a good margarita frozen, not frozen I like them all. What is your favorite? Any photos??

Man you just had to put that out there. I yet to find a good low carb margarita!
If you like real handmade margaritas, I found a good substitute for the sugar simple syrup is using Bochasweet. The stuff is expensive. I use it primarily for LC ice cream, but discovered it will actually make a stable simple sugar. Try that with something like an erythritol sweetener and you end up with water separated from a crystalized mess thats nearly impossible to clean off whatever you cooled it in.

A Mexican place near us makes whiskey margaritas. I get one or two almost every time. They serve it on the rocks and its real tasty. I prefer my margaritas neat, but this one goes well with ice. I dont do frozen ones...I leave that to the ladies...along with straws.

I like 1/2 oz of egg white in my hand shaken margaritas. The velvety mouth feel is great, like a whiskey sour. Have to buy the pasteurized or whatever the treatment is in the carton from the store because its nearly impossible to pour and measure a hand separated egg white.

P paulgeorge pulling up a thread from the archives!

Classic recipe is:
- 2 oz tequila (must explicitly say "100% agave" on the label)
- 0.75 oz lime juice (big difference between fresh versus bottled)
- 1 oz Cointreau (bad triple-secs are really bad; good ones are ~80 proof)
Shake hard 10 seconds and strain

With so few ingredients, there's no room to hide mediocrity (or worse). Life's too short not to spring for the good stuff, especially in classic cocktails. "Margarita Mix" is just mis-labeled antifreeze and should be immediately discarded.

On the rare occasion that I want to depart from the classic, I sometimes...
- add a touch of pineapple juice and hot chili brine, with a cucumber slice garnish, or
- sub mezcal for the tequila and/or sub orgeat plus orange bitters for the Cointreau, or
- use frozen watermelon cubes instead of ice, and work in some fresh mint or rosemary.
