It was brought to my attention that some folks considered that the "patina" on my WSM was abuse.

Sooo I didnt want to hear from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to WSMs...

Here's the before and after..

No worries..it only got scrubbed on the outside.

The grates get wire brushed before use.

The inside is slick as owl crap!!

Oh lordy, I hope no one turns me in to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to WSM's.  I might be a serial offender..... 

Besides, I always thought deck dust was an effective insulation layer.


But it works..... so why break it (fix it).
