Quite a bit of sentimental value there Al. I have one from my grandfather and 2 from my father; my sons will get them when I am gone and I suppose a few smokers also !!!

And yet, from another woodworker, EXCELLENT JOB! The memories he will have from working with his Grandfather ARE priceless. That board just may be a family hierloom. WTG Kid, Learn as much as ya can!

BigAl, I know your feelings about those guns... My father just inherited several keepsake guns from his brother. I'll get them someday as I'm an only child. However, I just gave my father a Ruger Vaquero (5" SS .357) for Christmas. Three years ago, I gave him a anniversary edition of a Ruger Mk III (he has just about every Mk I and Mk II made), but I told him "this one goes in the safe...unshot". After a stream of profanity he asked my mom, "What the hell kind of son gives his father a gun he can't shoot? (with a big grin on his face)" Long story short, I ain't in any hurry get these guns back.

Keep them guns, and when it feels right, you and your boy go shoot them like your friend would have wanted.
