MES30 Stand Trolley!

As a new owner of the MES30 stand... And frustrated that it eliminates the use of the built-in wheels on the smoker... I set out to build my own wheelie system.

I'm quite proud of the finished product, and it cost less than $35 to make.

Thought I'd share in case anyone else is as frustrated as I was.

Front wheels turn 360 and can lock. Back wheels are fixed. The whole assembly is bolted to the metal stand on all 4 corners.

I've been wanting something just like that.  I too bought the stand and then realized it didn't have wheels or a way to level it.  Looks good but I would paint it black to match and maybe weather better.  Are those plastic or rubber casters?

Shaggy, I will probably take it off and paint it, but it was easier to show the design with the raw wood.

The wood is pressure treated pine and I was told that so long as it won't be in direct contact with the ground it should weather well. Perhaps there is a weather-proofing black paint.

Also, the wheels are a moderate-duty nylon, also recommended for this purpose. I don't plan to roll it around the neighborhood so I think it should be fine.

Nice work on the stand!! If I were you I would not let the better half see the picture of it on the kitchen counter!! Could be ramifications for misuse of counter space! LOL.
Presure treated wood does not do well with paint until it has had time to age and dry. When new it is still basicly wet with the chemicals used to treat it and the paint will not adhere well. I would just leave it outside till next fall and then paint it.
