TEMP SET 250- 255 TO GET TO 225. CANT GET 275, ALSO WAS NOT TURNING CHIPS TO ASH. MASTER BUILT CSR WORKED TO RESOLVE AND CAME UP WITH A SOLUTION. WAS TOLD NEED COPY OF RECIEPT. CUT THE CORD AND SEND A PLATE OFF THE BACK. NOW I WILL WAIT FOR WHAT EVER THERE SENDING FOR THE FIX. I WAS TREATED VERY GOOD AND I WOULD SAY THERE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EXELLENT!! AND THE CSR REP DIANE WAS ON TOP OFF HER GAME. NOW WHEN I GET IT BACK WORKING I HOPE ITS NOT " BLOWING SMOKE UP MY PIPE" .

I ALWAYS READ ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH MES. HAS ANYONE GOT A FIX??????? IF SO LIKE TO HEAR..

                                                                                             THANKS , CHEFBOYARTIE

Chef.. not wanting to start a flaming war, but to let you know ALL CAPS is considered "Yelling" and not only that hard to read.

I hope things work out for you on the replacement parts.

What you describe is not unusual for the old generation MES 40 especially if you have water in the pan or a big drip pan blocking heat. For the last several months I have been running without a water pan and my set point and actual temp is within 5*F...JJ

first of all i did not know that caps means i'm yelling so excuse me.learn something new evary day.

jj thanks for the input about water pan. this electric smoker has it's

learing curve. need to get to 275 for some things so i hope this fix works.

I've got the older MES 40. I had some problem a few months ago with it not heating up. Masterbuilt replaced the heating element (which did not fix the problem), so they sent me a new body unit (minus the doors, racks, controller etc). The first one was nearly 50* cooler than the digital set temp and now the second one is 10*-25* cooler than the set temp, depending on what temp I set it at, needless to say I can't get to 275* either. I still like my MES and make all my sausage, jerky etc in it. BF is building me a propane smoker for those higher temp smokes.

Sure hope whatever they are planning will solve your problem! Good luck
