Mes 40 Soaking wood chips?

Is it necessary to soak the wood chips in water when using this smoker? I have read that people soak their chips and wanted to clarify as to what I should be doing. Thanks!

 I don't soak mine. I saw no benefit to it. Now I use the AMNPS pellet smoke generator most of the time so I rarely even

use my chip pan. You should seriously think about one of those. It is the perfect combination with the MES.
