MES 40 Meat Probe

I tried searching and didn't really find a definitive answer so here goes:
Can I cut the meat probe off and just get the whole thing out of the way? Any harm in doing this?

Or has someone come up with a creative way to re-purpose the probe?

It cuts off just fine....
Of course, then you can’t use the meat temp button as a handy random number generator anymore...
