I've never been too big on pellet grills, but when we bought out new place, the previous owner left a Pit Boss Pro Series 820 that looked like new in one of the sheds, said it was broke and doesn't work...he offered to have it removed but I told him he could leave it. Finally got to it today. Needed a $7 temp sensor and 3 mins time to install it. Works perfectly. So, of couse, had to give it a try tonight.

Made some chicken legs, boneless thighs, corn, and beans on it. Held temps perfectly, verified by the controller, analog thermometer, and an Inkbird. Here's the results:

I don't know if I can see myself using it for long smokes, I'm just a purist who enjoys the trial and error of offsets I guess, but for quick easy weeknight dinners, this may be getting quite a bit of use.

Did some wings on it tonight for the Brewers/Dodgers game, pretty good results again. Thinking I may give this to my daughter once I get the bbq hut finished. Be a nice upgrade from her little ASMOKE...she's already outgrowing that one and wanting something bigger. She really want to do a Thor's Hammer but can't fit it on hers and doesn't have the offset fire management skills quite yet.

I think Pit Boss are pretty good pellet grills for their price point, same with Z Grill. They get a lot of people into the hobby so that's a good thing.

Nice looking chicken, Quig.

Nice work on the fix and the cook! I have come to love my pellet grill...maybe you will too.
