This might not be too exciting for any one but me but this is what $100 + a little tax got me. LJ is hard to find locally but a friend of mine lives just a few miles from a Rural King and he picked these up for me. After all I've read about them I'm looking forward to burning them up!

I'm a huge fan of Lumberjack pellets. They offer some very diverse flavour profiles, and are a small company yet.

I think you'll like them. <Also I live in the state they're located in. I might be biased :P>

MAN, I'm jealous...the only place I can get lumber jack is amazon and I'm lucky to get it for much less than a buck a pound.
Dicks is the only place close to me that sells them and that is 40 miles away. I refuse to patronize them so I've never even seen LJ before. Was going to make the 2 hour run to rural king when I called my friend for directions he told me don't bother I'll pick them up for you. Pretty great friend.

Regardless, good for you bro. One heck of a deal.

Walt since I plan to be in MI in september, we should consider doing a group buy and trying to arrange a pick up for all the crowd. I know they offer a group buy, so that wouldn't be a bad idea for the gang.

This is by the by their official retail site for those interested:

Tom, that's an excellent idea...I'm not sure what the guys might want...I'm not sure how many use a pellet smoker...personally I use them in a smoke tube not as fuel...but i give Scott a holler and have him check with a few of the guys...if nothing else, I'd be in for 4 or 5 bags if the price is right.

Heck if you guys do it, I might put my name down for a few bags. They got some interesting blends and I've got air tight buckets to store em in.. I'll check with my father on our route when it's closer to the date and we can try to figure out the pick up arrangements etc.

Can't wait to hear back on this. Maybe you can get all of them into using a pellet tube or tray ;)

i figured i'd piggy back off this post, and ask people's opinions on 100% hickory versus 100% chery pellets. if you had to choose only one, which would you choose?

i ordered 5 of each online for local pick up, and they said it was ready for pickup, now i find that only the chery is available. pretty miffed they confirmed availability when it was not.

I only buy 100% hickory, as other pellets just don't give me enough smoke flavor. Most pellet grills don't produce overpowering smoke flavor. I'd bet 99% of the population could not tell you which wood species you burned in a pellet grill.

I've contacted lumberjack bbq pellets before and thats what they told me

Ok, good to know. I originally assumed they were, but then noticed they never stated any affiliation on their site. And the LJ site doesn't have any links back to BBQPELLETSONLINE.
