Hi Folks. I'm planning on building an offset RF smoker. I'm brand new to metal working (but pretty practical) so I'm starting out with a couple of more basic welding projects to get me started. I'm also building a materials list of what I need for the smoker build. I have a question about the mesh that I see a lot of you guys using for smoker racks and I wanted to see if i could get the same over here (UK). We refer to it as expanded metal - I was hoping if you could make suggestions as to what thickness and metal type (mild/stainless/etc some of you have used on your own set ups.

I appreciate any feedback/suggestions - thank you !

1/2” #16 flattened .. not sure how that translates to the UK/metric though
On grills use 1/4” #20
