I have never enjoyed having a AMNPS or AMNTS located below the burner of my gasser for the heat and flame of the gasser eats up a lot of the smoke so I wanted to find a way to place the AMNTS above the flame. Here I added a couple pieces of SS bicycle spoke bent to support the AMNTS to the water pan's support grill which resides above the flame.

I also have a large skillet pan on top of the burner which helps block the immediate contact of the flame to the AMNTS.

Of course, if I wanted to run two AMNTS, I had the ability to do so but not so much with my typical smoking.

It stays lit no problems?
No problem at the very low temp that I was running which was 135-140 while I was doing jerky.  Now what happens when I'm doing a very hot smoke at the 250 mark?   Don't know but I will say that if I do have problems with the AMNTS at such high temps, I will revert back to what I normally use when doing high temps which is using wood chunks in the cast iron skillet.  I have a couple other ideas I will want to experiment with in the near future.  Love tinkering.

Nice i have the 5 x 8 & somtimes have issues with it staying lit with th propane burner running...I may have to switch to the tube.

If I remember correctly, one of Todd's purpose for the AMNTS was to be more user friendly in a gasser as compared to the  AMNPS or AMNS.   I still feel its location, location, location, that it needs to be above the flame.

I place my tune above the burner. Where exactly kind of depends on how full my smoker is.

I have good success with it when hot smoking as long as the pit temp is below 285. Above that the pellets ignite and burn rather than smolder.

The tubes do better in the propane smokers.
