Life without a thumb

Getting a block so you can watch? I would but that's me.
Drove a drywall screw through my left wrist years ago . I tried to back it out , but it was twisted up in the tendon . Ended up at the Hospital , and the hand guy had his kid with him , about 8 years old . Asked me if I cared if she came in .
Next thing I know , he's got my wrist cut open , and he's showing her all the different things in there and what they do ! " See what happens when I do this " and my thumb would move . Then some fingers .
I guess she's followed in his foot steps .

That would make fishing hard.
Yup. I use spinning gear in the surf and throw plugs 99% of the time so the left hand does most of the work on the retrieve. And much like guys who fish for largemouths I land stripers by the mouth and without a thumb that'll be difficult and with my luck I'll hook into a 40+lber and be by myself!

After reading this thread. It amazes me that more SMF members aren't part of the RIP group.

Stay safe everyone
Chris

My brother shot himself with a Hilti. That was not coming out on it's own for sure because god knows this guy Scotty tried like hell. That was a hospital visit.
Yep, new a guy that went to emergency room with a 2' square piece of subfloor foot nailed to. Screamed like a little Bi$ch with the sawzaw trying to cut him loose.

i hope it all goes well for you man. that seems like a long time to be down though. i hope its not your wiping hand!

i just ran a splinter threw 1 finger and into another a few months back. took me 45 min. to cut n dig it out. when it went threw the first finger it split off. that deep split was the hard piece to get out. the big one just pulled back out. i wondered if i didnt get it all, because it didnt want to heal for a long time. it stayed red and puffy. now your situation has me wondering if there is still some in there.

The clock starts...hope the rehabilitation gores well and there is minimal nerve damage. If you have some at first, I wouldnt panic...it may just take a while or a long while to come back.

Stating the obvious: follow the doctors advice and dont over do it too early. Those are the words of wisdom i get told all the time because I get impatient with not being 100%.

Bandages off and splint on and this pretty much is it for 4-6 weeks.

Nice! that looks not so bad. and you can take it off! When I was laid up with a busted ankle, being able to take the boot off was so nice!

Just being able to loosen is nice I just can't bend it at all not even a little.

Is it pinned straight or you just cant bend it because of the procedure and swelling/pain and all?

Just because of the stitching and swelling. Doc doug for a while but he found the chunk of wood. Now it's about how much nerve damage.
