I just picked the very first apple from our trees! We planted them in spring of 2025…
We tasted it, and it was very good and sweet, but does anyone know why it is spotted like that?

I am not an apple farmer but just looks signs of stress. ot necessarily a bad thing. More stress = more hardiness and vigor, putting more energy into producing fruits/flowers and viable seeds.

Tons of apple farms around here, I like crisp varieties like Fujis and most are rough and spotted around the stem and core. I'm sure the younger a tree is, the less adapted to whatever stresser, and each season become less likely to show signs under the same conditions

Interesting…this is a crimson crisp…

Just got back from taking my 2 grandsons to the local corn/pumpkin farm. The kids told me, DO NOT BUY ANY APPLES!
Apparently there was a huge harvest off of my daughter's one, small tree this year. She doesn't know what kind it is, some sort of red apple, but she spent 2 days peeling, chopping, cooking and canning apple sauce, and apple butter. And I still saw more on the tree. I gave her 8 huge ears of corn, and she gave me two jars of the apple butter. So win-win.

Hers is maybe 9' tall, but it was loaded this year. I guess the squirrels were more interested in the huge walnut tree across the street.

Long day today but I did get a chance to make
12 = 250 mil
and 2 = 500 mil
Bottles of plum jam, these are shelf stable for close to a year if they last that long.

Great flavour and just perfect consistacy also.

And on toast and butter. Heaven. lol.

Can you tell I like my sweets. This will be great on a bowl of ice cream.
