Good sweet potato pie is hard to beat.Another sweet potato item I love is a grated sweet potato pudding. Wish I had my old Granny's recipe.

I've never tried sweet potato pie either, that looks delicious Gary! I thought the wind was smelling nice blowing over from DV...

I made up quite a bit more filling than would fit in the pies, so I just mixed the sweet and less sweet fillings and put them in an oven proof bowl.  Then I put the bowl in the oven to cook along with the pies.  Wasn't a fancy pudding bit sure was good.

Maybe I missed it in the recipe, but am I to assume the sweet potaoes are baked first then pereed with other ingredients ? The last time I worked with sweets I tried to make fries. Fries were good but the raw potatoes were hard as rocks, can"t imagine beating them with a fork, more like beating the fork with a potato.

I don't care for sweet potatoes.

More than a few years ago I made a sweet potato pie.  And I am not much for baking. Now I do it a couple of times a year.

For anyone who hasn't tried sweet potato pie?  Do it.  It is great!

Good luck and good smoking.

My Lady makes a sweet potato casserole that is covered with pecans. Being the Yankee from "Upstate NY" that I am, I never had such a thing before I met her. She made it at Thanksgiving last year and my parents loved it. My Dad keeps asking her to make it when ever we have a family get together. I love the South, been here 16 years.

Had an Aunt that was from "down South"....I am a Jersey boy...one of our Christmas visits Aunt Gwen mad a sweet potato pie. It was fantastic. When my mother tried to make it using my aunts recipe it was one of the nastiest things I have ever attempted to eat. Will be talking to the Boss about this...

The Ginger Snap Crust--just crushed ginger snaps and butter, pressed in??  'cause it sounds like a winner.
