Well we had our final dinner out at the rig last night, for those of you down south, We have a spring "Break up" here, frost comes out of the roads to the point where our counties put weight restrictions on the roads so as not to wreck them. So for 2-3 months I get to be a happy unemployed smoker of sorts. The boys picked up the meat of choice and asked me to do the final "Last supper".... Lol.
The boys picked up a 13# strip loin and 6 racks of ribs. Prepped seasoned the night before and wrapped up for the fridge. Fired up the smoker at 10 pulled the ribs and put on for 11 am.

3-2-1 was used for the ribs, A favorite for these guys. after 3 i pulled sauced and wrapped. Piled into the smoker for the next round.
The Strip loin was on for 3 hrs

Smoked to rare wrapped then sliced so I could grill to order, ( pit boss is great for that)

Ribs unwrapped, back on to caramelize for the last 1. pulled and cut a couple up for the pic. Sorry it was a bad picture, we had a beverage or 2 going at this point.

I guess I need not say more, The next picture did not turn out, it was kind of blurred and the the vultures descended and there were no other plate pics left. All in all it was a great season of work, We had 6 people buy pellet poopers this yr and 1 stick burner, It has been a great season all because of this forum.
A big thank you to TulsaJeff TulsaJeff , all the staff, OTBS, and members for all the guidance and help from beginning to end and in between.

Oh that looks so good. Do you work an oil rig? We have a friend in Mississippi that works on a rig in the gulf. Sounds like very hard work but he seems to enjoy it. Keep smokin more of those amazing meals. Life is too short for salads alone.

George

Thx everyone for the looks and comments, Much appreciated. Lol too bad there was no finished picture.
George Yes I do work on an oil / gas drilling rig. Been 25 ish yrs doing so and I don't know if I would change or could at this age lol. I bring the trusty old pit boss to work with me because yes I do like a good salad, but smoked meat at any given chance is welcomed to us all out here, I am lucky and have a great group of guys out here that I try and show appreciation to whenever I can.

Good looking meal there Charlie. Strip loin is a favorite of mine.
Guess your boys will have to eat home cooking for a while. I'm thinking they'll be looking forward to returning to work after breakup.
POINT for sure.
I'm still hauling logs. Winter weights are still on in our area, and where we are it looks like breakup might not be until the end of March. It all helps.
Gary

Charlie, that's a mighty fine looking last supper you got there. Enjoy your time off and don't be surprised if a couple of your guys show up on your doorstep looking for some chow.

Point for sure.

Chris

Thx guys, Gary you may have to take one of those hogs home lol, we have the technology here to transform it into ready to eat pkgs lolol

Great last meal. I bet they enjoyed it.

You have to cook a welcome back meal too?

Lol, Adam that would be a good idea... I will definitely think about it. Hopefully I get back back my same group of guys back. Thx

Looks like a Great send-off!
Do you shift, too? Or just keep the tables full as the Chief, Cook, and Bottle washer?
Have a good break!
