I was really surprised at the price of Lump Charcoal! $1 to $2 per pound seams awful expensive. Anyone use that FOGO Premium or Jealous Devil Lump?...JJ

I've used Jealous Devil and was very happy with it, but I've switched to Walmart's brand which is Expert Grill. It's Royal Oak in a different bag and is around 50¢/lb. I've had one bag that I wasn't too happy with as it was almost all real small pieces, almost crumbs, but for the price, it is OK. Walmart nearest me has it reduced for $12.88 for a 30 lb. bag.

I've done less smoking and grilling this past year than I've done in the last few decades. Used to be a minimum of twice a week, sometimes 4-5 times. Now maybe twice a month. I'm stretching my shrinking charcoal supply of the good stuff that I paid peanuts for.

I checked my smoker recently. Wow. There's Martians growing in there. Time for a good scrubbing and burnout.

My local Walmart has 8lb bags for $4.97, regular price. Royal Oak is $.02 per pound more for 15 pounds.
