congratulations, and tell him were all proud of him.  Im only 26 but I grew up around my grandfathers farm, so I was taught a good work ethic.  I got sick 4 years ago, and having a tought time, but still up and doing things everyday. I check on my neighbor shes in her late eightes, and im always doing work for her.  She tries to pay me, but I tell her no her appreciation is payment enough.  Then I look at kids coming out of high school, and wander what the heck happened.  Seems like they dont wanna put in a hard days work, and dont want to help anybody.  I dont understand it, I guess a new generation, but looks like you got your boy in the right direction, and keep standing tall and proud of him.  I sound like Im alot older but like I said im diffrent, While friends are listening to rap, im listening to johnny cash, hank williams, and conway twitty lol.

Thanks for sharing,  my boys too had jobs when they were in their teens.

My oldest went to summer camp for the first time with his best friend age 12.  Our church the next year had a extreme summer camp experience which cost more than double the camp my son first attended.  He asked if we would pay for him to go to this more expensive more intense outdoor experience camp.  I told him I would pay the same amount we paid for the first camp, he would have to earn the rest of the money himself.  He was a not encouraged, his chores/allowance could never cover the difference.  We had about 5 months until the camp, a friend/business associate had a growing computer sales business, and he fired the office cleaning company for not showing up and not doing a good job, (they only showed up once a week).  So I asked him if my son could do the office cleaning, I can't rem. what the exact pay arrangement was but it was something like $25-$30 for each week, it took about 3 hours to clean, offices/windows/restrooms, etc.  At the time this was a lot more than minimum wage, it was a great deal.  I worked with him the first 2 or 3 times and after that he was on his own.  The company owner was happy, my son was happy, not only did he earn the extra money but had several hundred $$$ in spending money.  That son, graduated from H.S. with honors, attended UCLA and graduated with honors from UCLA.  Both boys later worked at one of the local branches for the company I was a regional manager.  I chose the toughest manager to put them under, and told him to not cut them any slack, expect the same as any adult.  Both performed great.
