Warning... more enabling incoming. Now imagine those chickens on a rotisserie. I got one for Christmas and haven't used it yet. I can't wait to use it though. Just a thought.
Not a chicken but a turkey.

I got my 22" as a kick to the curb freebie. A late 1990's vintage
Haven't used it in a couple years since getting a 18" Jumbo Joe.

OK self enabler! :emoji_call_me:

Who assembled it? The handle on the lower half is upside down. The little ears point up to hang your grilling tools.
well I'll be dardned. just noticed that myself. hope the chinese screw doesn't strip.... :emoji_laughing: :emoji_laughing:

It was recommended here to get the premium model with removeable catch pan. also has hinged grate. $219.00
Great price . You have a lot of bang for your buck with that .
Here's an older thread about setting up a snake if you're interested .

Also , I think the newer kettles have the " vane position " marked on the outside of the ring .
That will help you when adjusting the lower air flow .

I did a visual , and marked mine .
This is my 22 , but you can see the amount of gap at the vent .
Remember , on a sweep style clean out , that's times 3 .

This is my 26 . The first mark is fully closed .
Second mark is 1/4 open ( like above )
Last mark is fully open .

Like I said , yours should be marked , but just look in from the top and verify the marks and the location of the vent . Will help when adjusting temps . Doesn't take much either . Give it time to react .

that was an awesome post. Always wondered if the snake worked. I have a thawed 8 piece chicken that might find out this afternoon. For the chicken I might try just using one basket.

Wish I'd noticed this thread earlier. Can't go wrong with a Kettle. You won't regret that purchase. The Kettle, both 22 and 26 are the most used cookers on my patio.

But as to cooking chicken, I've been using a direct heat method on the 18 WSM for quite a few years now. Its a high heat method, I run the WSM without a water pan and a chimney and 1/2 of fully lit coals. The WSM runs around 325* at grate level. Its the best chicken I've made.

I got it from Chris at the Virtual Weber Bullet site, full details here
