To set a reminder as to when to add wood chips, I use the timer feature on my cell phone.

Stange piece of bbq gear but very useful.

I use the timer feature all the time on my cell phone for a whole variety of things.  Just found a free app in the Android Google Store that allows you to create, name, and set as many timers as you need.  I generally don't time my smokes, but I just might start!

It's hard to believe, but you just can't live without a smartphone these days!

I use the timer on mine too.

Al its still possible, I'm 56 and never owned a cellphone. Still use a rotary, wireless and an old Walton's style crank(incoming calls only). Although the timer feature does sound useful.
