Just starting out!!

Hi everyone hoping this is the place I could get a few answers about smokers and building them. I have got myself a air tank roughly 5ft by 2ft circ and a smaller propane tank about 3ft by 15in circ, my main question is if I were to put the smaller tank under the larger and connect the 2 via 2 6inch pipes would this be affective, thanks Rich S
