Spent the last hour or so on here. Just an amazing wealth of info from all you folks. Im a Webber kingsford guy, so this is all new to me.

Im in the market for a pellet for the wife. Ive narrowed a few down. I dont mind gadgets, but I want something straight forward for her to use and not be intimidated

Looking the GMG Daniel Boone, and the RT340. I like everything about the RT,. With a family of 5 ( 1 doesnt eat alot of meat) does the 340 come up short on grilling room? The 590 is out of the price range.

Next up would be the GMG. While I do like the room, it seems too busy on the control panel

Welcome aboard, I have neither but the rectec has a strong following with 0 bad reports on customer service. vegetables can be cooked on them so nobody will get left out. warranty is another consideration when buying to me. both have been around for a number of years and probably have most of the wrinkles ironed out , good luck picking 1 as there are a lot of choices these days

Welcome!
I’ve never had a GMG so I can’t speak on them. I have owned and cooked on the RT 340. I now have the RT 700 Bull.
I’m a big fan of RT products and their customer service.
The RT340 is a great little cooker. As for room, as the name implies, it has 340 square inches of cooking space. If I remember correctly it can handle 2 smallish butts, 2 to 3 chickens, 3 racks of St. Louis style ribs or a small (10 lb’ish) brisket. Not all at the same time of course:emoji_grinning:
Another thing I like about the RT 340 is that it has the same fire pot system as the larger RT cookers so it’ll get pretty hot and does a decent job of grilling off burger, steaks, etc.

Good luck in your search and let us know what you decide. Don’t forget to post some pictures of your cooks!

Welcome to the site. I have had my 340 for almost a year now and love it. I also have a family of 5 and haven't run out of cooking space. You can get a decent amount of meat inside of it. I did get the extra rack to use for larger cooks, but have only used it once or twice. I ended up using that in my gasser most of the time. I

It really heats up quick and holds on to the temp. There have been times that I wished I had gone one step up in size, but for pretty much all of my cooks that would have just been empty space needing to get heated up.

I have a smaller GMG and it works really good. If you get the GMG spring for the Prime version if you can. It will go to 550 degrees has two meat probes and is wifi so you can control it with your phone. My buddy has this one and he loves it! I have another buddy with the non-prime WiFi and he loves it too though.

the RT is also a very nice unit.

Rec Teq all the way! Love mine, would but it all over again. support is second to none.

I've had my GMG DB for about 6 yrs. Sits outside with the GMG fitted cover. It's WiFi, but I don't bother. I just turn it on and go do something else. I'd buy another.

I have the GMG Daniel Boone also. It works very well for what it is.....a pellet grill. Controls are easy to use and the wifi
is very nice. I like the stainless steel racks. They are easy to clean and no rust. The brand of pellets used will make a huge
difference. LJ are the best.
