Any of you guys have a journal entry template that you use to journal. If so, what do you put on it? Thanks.

I use MS Excel for my log.  In the beginning, I kept track of everything.  I'll take a Snip and see if I can post it here.

Once I developed the skills and instincts, my log entries and usage were drastically reduced.

My log entries were mostly about how to keep track of my charcoal usage, so I could plan to buy cheap on the holidays.

Here is a portion of my original log (don't know if it will be readable):

And here is what I use nowadays, when I remember:

I just used a notebook in the beginning, I wrote down everything I could think of when smoking something.

But as Ray said, after a while it all just stays in your head & I never write anything down or look at old notes anymore.

Al, you jogged my memory of something I rely on for everything, a recipe book software program. I use one called The Living Cookbook, which I believe is no longer supported. I have hundreds of recipes in it, about 30% totally my own, the rest copied and modified off the Internet. My wife got tired of me not being able to dulicate a recipe she enjoyed so I started using the software. Problem solved.

We use MasterCook, same idea different company.

But after switching computers & loosing a bunch of recipes, we also make sure we print each recipe out & we have several binders full of recipes.

It's also nice because it will give you the nutritional value, and you can resize recipes automatically by just changing the # of servings.

I'm sure The Living Cookbook does the same thing.

Yep, I need to do the printing thing.  I can't upgrade from Windows 7 because Living Cookbook won't work on Windows 10.  Twice I've lost the computer's file of recipes due to upgrades and crashes.  Thankfully I back up the software at least once a week.

Hey guys, I appreciate all off it. I'm still pretty old school and like using pen and paper. Regardless what I use, you guys gave me what to log. Thanks.
