AM and PM, daylight savings [time] (with no interest).
We have determined the earth revolves once every 24 hours. Most things that rely on time use the 24 hour clock and Zulu GMT as the base. Why do we still have DST and AM/ PM?

Not sure, but I bet it involves money in some way. I prefer the 24 hour clock and everything I own that has the option is set to it.

We voted in FL to keep DST all year round, but it never happened. Personally I think they should just split the difference & change it 1/2 hour and keep it that way year round!

Al, maybe that wouldn't be a bad idea to go the 1/2 hour split the difference??

I don't mind , and it does not screw up my sleeping at all, not the way some people around here where I live cry about it.
I am like tbern tbern I also like the extra light in the fall on my way to work, Always was this way for me , so I am good with it , just me lol

In Canada we Have Saskatchewan and Yukon Territory that do not change their clocks anymore.

i am the only person on the planet that doesn't mind it. enjoy the extra hour of daylight for summertime and the earlier sunrise during late fall, wintertime period.
Nope. I like it, too.

If it was always standard time, like up here, it would be daylight in the summer months around 4 am. No thanks.

If always daylight time, it would be dark until almost 9 am in northern latitudes, depending on longitude.

Not that the OP was showing consternation, but I do see people on other forums who act like the time change twice a year is the most egregious thing they deal with in life.

No you aren't alone!!
And I really loved it in my younger days. That gave us another hour of playing Ball in the Summer, without lights!!

I kinda like it myself as well. The dogs sure get messed up with the change of time and their feeding schedule...they don't like it lol! At least it's 5:00 somewhere! :emoji_blush:

Now that I'm retired I no longer have a dog in this fight, makes no difference. But I have heard really good arguments for and against. Have a great day! 😀

LOL---I'm so used to that, that I forgot.
Every night @ 9PM Mrs Bear goes to bed. So when the time changes, every night at that exact "old" 9 PM "Smokey" (our Cat) gets up from his nap, sits in front of Mrs Bear, and stares at her for an hour, while waiting for his bedtime snack & bedtime.

Ok I can see some of your points about DST. Being an Arizona native for 48 years I have never had to deal with it.
If I were king for a day though, I would certainly do away with the AM and PM though. useless.

It doesn't bother me anymore, but when I worked the overnight shift and had to do that extra hour. That stunk big time. On the flip side when you only had to work 11 instead of 12 hours it was great.

No DST here in AZ, same time all year. RAY
It was that way in Indiana until a few years ago. Everyone knew it got dark earlier and dawn came later in the winter months. No problem. The only issue I ever had was that the Springfield, IL branch of the company I worked for was on DST. Half the year they were on the same time and half the year an hour behind. It got confusing sometimes.
I don't know why they decided to make the change and now that I'm retired I really don't care, but it's kind of a PITA to change clocks for no good reason as far as I'm concerned.

Washington, Oregon, and California voted to keep DST, Congress ignored it; I don't care if we have it or not, just leave it one way or the other and quit messing up our sleep cycles. Just my opinion.

It would suit me if they'd just pick one or the other and leave the clocks alone. I spent my entire life working outside and it would have been easy enough to adjust working hours to the available daylight rather than messing with clocks.
