Increasing the Range of a Wireless BBQ Thermometer (Maverick ET-73) by siliconghost

I've smoked a few times with the ET-73 and noticed an issue with the range as well.  Doesn't seem to want to go 100 feet.  Thinking the double paned thermo glass windows are having an effect.

Not sure I have the cajones to try this (yet), but clearly working thinking about.  I've included another link in the event the antenna is different in yours (mine).

Anyone try these or something else that would be simpler?  I am no electrician.....

I added a wire to my receiver.  I also drilled a hole in the battery box cover on the transmitter to give access to the on/off switch.  It works but when it dies I'll go with a thermoworks or ET 732
