Need some help on this one. Looking for a very specific setup here. I would like to get combination propane grill/pellet smoker. If possible:

1. Would like to grill/smoke chamber to be the same. Have no need to do both at the same time so this would be easier for me (not mandatory)

2. No need for side burner

3. Longevity is important so non-rust parts always a plus

4. Trying to stay in the $500-$800 range if possible

Not sure if such a unicorn exists. Most of what I find is either 2-3 chambers and/or the cons often say “rusts easily”. Any guidance is appreciated re: particular brands/models to search.

I don't know if such a thing exists but sounds like you are looking for a pellet grill but with the ability to get higher temps to grill. Maybe get two different units? Might defeat the purpose of what you are going for but might be your best bet.

It's neither pellet or gas, but a 26" weber kettle will do both easily. That is if you don't mind using charcoal as a heat source. I'm not sure if a pellet/propane combo unit even exists.

Let me try this since it seems like it is actually a unicorn I am looking for. What if I said two sections is ok (half smoker, half grill). Propane/pellet. What brands should I look at in the $500-$800 range? So many options and don't want to go with a run-of-the-mill home depot brand if I can get something better quality.

I had one years ago, check out the char griller double play. its what i had, not exactly what you were looking for good. There are others by them that might be what you are looking for.

That was one I had looked at just know nothing about the brand.

Also this one looks like it might be an option but again don't know the brand

they are considered a cheaper brand but in my opinion still well built and can last a long time if well taken care of.
it can also be used as a charcoal grill. biggest disadvantage it can only do hot smoking.

I’d probably spend $200 if your budget on a nice used Weber and the $600 on a pellet popper. Maybe Campchef

My old (ancient) Brinkmann Grill/Smoker works. You can find something similar.

I can use it as a charcoal grill or build the fire on one side and smoke on the other. Low and slow smokes (below 275F) are tough with this set up (and I use my MES40 for that)...I tend to use this grill for high-heat smokes (300F-325F) like for rib-eye steak, chicken wings, pork steaks, etc.

For smoke I have to use chunks, splits or chips and close down the vents. It is pretty tight and will eventually smother the fire, so I wait until the smoker gets to the desired temp, then open the top vent and it will hold temperature for a 45-90 minutes depending on how much charcoal I used, wind, outside temp, etc.

In that case I would do a search on google or amazon just to see what is out there.

Didn't know they made such a thing. Do a search for this:

Member's Mark Hybrid Pellet and Gas Grill

I'd lean towards getting two units, but I like lots of toys.

That Members Mark, looks interesting but I have a problem spending $900 on a unit that is made in China, has no Domestic operation, I can find, and doesn't look like it is sold by too many companies with very few reviews...JJ
