If it makes you all feel any better this weather system you are experiencing right now will be here saturday. No I won't be getting an ice storm but I have a kayak fishing tournament that day and the winds are supposed to be out of the north at 20 knots with a 30% chance of thunderstorms. I usually would not fish a day like this but with a good plan maybe I can get in the money with a good placing. Should be a good challenge. I might have to wear a jacket ;)
Lightning capitol of the world here. Nuff said. Therefore paddling in the middle of a bay with 4 graphite lightning rods is generally not the best thing. Its going to be a fun day.
My wife and I decided to come to Omaha last night and spend today doing our Christmas shopping. I just looked at the car and it's covered with between a quarter and a half inch of ice. There is still precipitation coming down that keeps changing between snow, sleet and freezing rain.
Shopping isn't may "thing" anyway, so this REALLY makes it a lovely day.
A lot of the Tulsa and OKC area have been without power since Sunday. I know several members are from the Tulsa area. We have been spared in Northern OK. We got mainly sleet and has warmed up enough to be rain and not freezing.
Got that right. I think it is our only choice. That Ice Storm is heading NE, best we might see is some wind.
good luck to all of those stuck in it though
Howdy all, we are under quite a bit of ice here in Topeka. As I type this I can hear limbs snapping and falling. In fact, something hit my roof right overhead and woke me up this morning.
I have taken several pics and will get them uploaded soon. Thankfully what power we did lose was short lived and happened while we were all asleep.
