Very Very cool Robert!

That concept brings simplicity and functionality together for a SM grill!.....I like!

Oh and I do like the fire pic!!

Thank you sir!! Being a fabricator yourself I thought you'd appreciate the simplicity of the design without compromising functionality. I also know you like the fire pics. Mine doesn't come close to yours but it's still a fire :emoji_wink:

Mighty fine steaks. And that grill? You've out done yourself!

Thanks so much my friend. I do really like that grill. A ton of fun to cook on and so simple to set up.

Man. Where to begin. Looks like the grill was a success. The steaks are perfect and a great looking meal. Happy V day to you both.

Very much appreciate it Brian. Steaks came out well for a first time....and hoping you had a nice V-Tines day also.

Robert

Dayum Robert! First off the grill is bad ass. I like the swing out grate. Secondly the steaks are just beautiful. You nailed it all around buddy. Get this man on the carousel!

Thank you John. The swing-out grate was where I was stymied in the beginning. Took a few minutes to figure it out but it works like a dream.

Great looking meal. And you better be careful, you keep turning stuff out like that grill and folks are gonna think you like building them! Great design.

Thanks Jim, and yes I do enjoy building them. That's because it's a hobby, not a job :emoji_wink:

Man Robert you are a manufacturing machine over there. Lookin great!

Thanks Dave. This one was super simple but still very functional.

Another fine build Robert !! That's the perfect size for a couple steaks for the two of you! I'm very impressed!
I'll have to agree with Tracy ... Those cap steaks are one of the best cuts in my opinion.. Its the whole reason I stock up on whole prime rib roasts when they go on sale... Couple of nice roasts out of the eye...the ribs.. A few steaks.....and the the prized cap!! 😋

The simplicity of that is beautiful!!! I mean that is less than a day fab job if you have things lined out. One could actually make some coin with that......Something similar may grow in my shop and end up at the farmers market!

That's pretty cool, Robert. I like that, nice work...

Thanks so much Charles. It took a bit of thought to figure out how to go about it but it worked. I'm happy :emoji_wink: :emoji_wink:

That hybrid SM is a pretty cool and ingenious idea. And it's just one of many in your line of functional smokers! You sure you're not starting a business?

Very much appreciate it Joe and yes, I'm sure that I will not be starting a business.

That grill looks pretty special to me as does the meal! I’ve never had ribeye cap but have heard it’s amazing.

Thank you Jeff. The rib eye cap is an excellent cut of meat. It's just thin though o you gotta keep an eye on them. They are not as forgiving as a steak that's 2" thick.

Looks like you aced it all Robert. Pretty work on the grill, and your plate looks fantastic.

Thanks very much. The grill was super simple but turned out to be very effective and functional.

That is awesome! Man you have same awesome skills, you need to start a business🤣 Perfect inaugural cook too!

Thank you Jed. I appreciate the kind words but have no intention whatsoever of starting a business. I'll build for friends or for fun but nothing for profit.

Robert , Great build and great meal for you both on Valentines day.
Tracy is happy with the steaks, and your happy with the build.
PRICELESS

The kind words are appreciated David. Thank you. Yes sir, I am thrilled with the build due to it being so simple yet so functional.

Super cool, and so practical! I have a little charcoal hibatchi grill and I always wish I could raise and lower the grate from the coals.

Awesome Robert on both the grill and that beautiful meal. Always top notch with you bud

Thank you Jake!! It was yours that Tracy said we needed one of :emoji_wink: Speaking of that, have you had a chance to fire yours up yet?

Great work Robert and excellent looking meal.

Thanks so much. The meal did come out well which did bode well for gaining points with the Minister of Finance :emoji_laughing:

Another distant thought you have brought to fruition with steel, fire, and meat! A wonderful fabrication job brought home with a perfect Valentine's Day dinner, fantastic piece of work Robert.

Thank you very much my friend for the kind words and the encouragement. This has been a fun hobby and I'm gonna be firing up the new cabinet smoker again this weekend. That will be fun!!

That’s a great design and wonderful craftsmanship. I’m very impressed. Looks like it cooks great.

Thank you Sven. The design was so very simple but it still took a few days thinking through the process figuring out how to make it work. In the end though, it works great.

I like that grill it looks awesome and it sure did the job on those steaks. The whole meal looks fantastic like Jeff I've never had that cut of steak but guess I'm going to have to look for some.

Thanks so much Jerry. The grill is pretty cool and I'm kinda fond of it. I'd be happy to build you one if you want. It was simple, took very little material, and a fast build. As for the cap straks, if you can find them I highly recommend giving them a try. They are outstanding.

Robert that looks good. Both the dinner and the grill.

Thank you Brian, on both counts sir. I appreciate it.

Another fine build Robert !! That's the perfect size for a couple steaks for the two of you! I'm very impressed!

Thanks Travis. The grill without the small charcoal pan is bigger than you might think. I could easily get 10 to 12 pounds of steaks on there. Might get a bit cramped but I could do it...especially if they are sliced thick enough :emoji_wink:

Funny you should say that. I was thinking this might be exactly what you'd recognize about this one. As for them finding their way to the market, that's about as high a compliment as I could get. Probably only about $75 worth of material and you could most likely fetch $350 each all day long for them.

Great job on the grill and the meal Robert!

GREAT BIG LIKE!

Thank you my friend!! It's great to see you again. Myself and a whole ot of other folks are sincerely hoping you're starting to turn the corner. Thoughts and prayers still with you buddy.

Super cool, and so practical! I have a little charcoal hibatchi grill and I always wish I could raise and lower the grate from the coals.

Very much appreciate it Mariko. This one was so simple yet so practical. I had the hibachi style grills long ago but outgrew them quickly as the family grew. Being able to raise and lower the grate is a fantastic benefit and the concept of the Santa Maria grill that I was trying to replicate with this one.

I'm actually working on the layout of my outdoor kitchen and am putting an elevated dutch oven center in it and I have been sketching up some ideas on how to be able to have a few levels for pans and such as well as a solid top to keep heat in and even a place sear things. So I'm thinking a variation of this will work nicely and keep it simple....Oh and just a tease for ya.....I'm currently working on the design for the "S-Fire Grill" .....its a Hybrid between the X-Fire and Copper Pot......... Now I have your mind working.....LOL

FYI, with all the Covid restrictions lifted in Louisiana, the chemical and petro plants are all doing turnarounds. I expect the work to last all year from postponing maintenance.....they are looking for welders......hint, hint.....

I really appreciate the offer Robert but honestly I don't even know where I would put it right now.

I'm thrilled that you are able to derive some ideas from this which you can incorporate into your designs. I guess this is a good example of people sharing ideas here and others being able to utilize them. I will however say that you are evil...pure evil....teasing me like that with the S-Fire taunt :emoji_laughing:

Robert, nice job on the grill and a great looking meal too.

Thank you Rob. Simplicity across the board, the grill and the meal. Not hard to pull off and make it look decent :emoji_wink:

I appreciate the hint hint Keith but the fact is that I'm not a welder and really not very good at it. Additionally I have no desire to get a job that requires me to work. I've spent enough years doing that :emoji_laughing:

I can relate Jerry, I honestly can. That grill took the very last of the space I have. To get any more out there I'd have to build an island of cookers right down the middle of the walkway. If things change though just let me know. This is one sweet little grill and so easy to build.

I know I know..... I am spending time engineering it because I want it to be "right"! In my head it is epic! lol

Dang nice build Robert! And you did those steaks proud! Love the fire pic...almost as much as I like gravy!
