NOAA just upgraded Nate to a Cat1 Hurricane within the last hour or so.
ETA: Reports say because it strengthened so quickly it now stands a good chance at becoming a Cat2 before making landfall in the US.

To any of our members in the path of this storm, I wish you the best and hope you come through safely, and please don't stay home if you're in areas of storm surge and/or flooding.
Please stay safe out there.

Nate shall be practically sitting atop us Sun morning here in Mobile, AL.

My youngest son is thrilled at sharing names with a hurricane and one that is coming to visit him personally starting Sat evening, myself I'm not so thrilled about it.
A Cat1 isn't huge but it's enough to be of some concern for fences, trees, power and maybe debris.
We plan to ride this one out at home as a family as we've no problem with flooding at our location.
I don't send the wife and kids to visit family unless it's a Cat2 or larger, but I stay to clean up, protect my property and help in the neighborhood.

Well according to that hurricane projection it sure looks like you're in for it full bore. Not good.

Hopefully you're gonna be OK Chile. Just don't wait too long to send the family somewhere safe. That's what's real important. Trees and fences and roofing can all be replaced. Family can't.

Stay safe my friend.

Chile ... take it serious like we do here in fla whenever we get a storm close to us ... about 10 years ago we had a storm and had a tornado rip up 2 oak trees in our back yard and broke off a 59 ft pine tree out back ...

Chile,
Always plan on the storm being at least 1 cat stronger than they anticipate. NOAA is pretty good on the storm track but a SQAG on the wind intensity. Been thru a few of these with the eye of 3 hurricanes going over my house. If you are near the water and a lower elevation it is time to go!
I wish you the best!

Hurricane Dinner

Cubed Pork/Potatoes in Salsa Verde
Ranch Style Pinto Beans
Mexican Rice
Corn/Flour Tortillas
Apple Raisin Tarts

Sup Chili, Plate looks good. That mexican rice from scratch or out of a box? Great minds...
I had Pork Carnitas tonight with flour tortilla's, Brazilian black beans, spicy sour cream, and fresh garden salsa.

We did not get much rain at all from NATE, dry air to the north wrapped around to the west side. Good thing NATE is the second fastest moving storm on record, and is a very small storm. Stay safe my friend.

Power just went out about half an hour ago, USB tethered to my phone and this is my last post till I fire the generator in the morning.

30' waves breaking over my favorite fishing pier, Gulf State Park Pier in Gulf Shores AL.
The tops of the light poles are normally 45' above the water.

Indaswamp, I always make my own rice/beans when at home, taste too good not to.

My man....that is what I was expecting to hear. I'd like that rice recipe when things get back to normal after the storm. Be safe my friend.
