Hunting And Fishing Thread!?!

I had today off from fishing, so what did I do? Go fishing.... It's not often enough that I get to go crappie fishing and a good friend who guides for them asked if I wanted to go give them a try and I said "Heck Yeah!!"

Caught 34 mostly 1-1¾ lbs...

A couple of smaller ones in the mix and we released around 10. All caught on brush in the 20'-22' depth range using small jigs, no minnows. Good day with a good friend...

Thank you Rich. Weather has been pretty good the last couple of days so it was good to just get out and enjoy the day without the worry of catching fish...

Heck yeah. I'm just waiting for the lakes to freeze up here to go chasing fish, my favorite are crappie and bluegills with some LMB mixed in.

Now that is majestic!! I'm assuming you don't have a season for them? Or is it a permit hunt with very few permits issued?

Ya, you'd have to draw a tag for moose and its not an easy tag to draw. But there is a season and this is the area I apply for... fingers crossed, I might draw it in the next few years.

Took us to the last day as the weather here has been unseasonably warm… we generally depend on the cold and snowy weather to push them down to wintering grounds… and catch them coming thru. However and thankfully… we did end up on this elk hunt filling 3 of 4 tags. Very thankful to have some meat in the freezer!

We got them all taken care of and loaded. Hanging tonight and our fam friend is a butcher that will have room for them tomorrow around noon. Thanks for lookin all!

This was the worst year I've seen as far as weather goes by far. Too warm, very dry, and too much wind. I saw elk but never a shot. Most other hunters we talked with agreed it was bad. Very few saw elk and less had elk hanging in the trees. If I had known about the weather in advance I would have turned my tag in.

Good news is my wife and son got there deer today about five minutes apart. My wife a decent doe and my son a 2X3 that was nice body wise. The both have elk tags still for private land. Problem with those tags is we normally only see elk in the summer here at the house. At least we have meat that will be in the freezer in a few days and the dog should be able to have ground deer (scraps) every evening for the coming year.

The 6.5 Gredel strikes again! Last night our oldest daughter pulled the trigger for the 3rd year in a row making it 3yrs, 3 shots, 3 deer. Her younger sister was with this time learning. Now tonight we will see if she can repeat her sister's luck.
Hunting has been tough going this year with low deer numbers but these girls have been sticking it out and going every chance we get. Got a great story out of it and smiles all around.

The 6.5 Gredel strikes again! Last night our oldest daughter pulled the trigger for the 3rd year in a row making it 3yrs, 3 shots, 3 deer. Her younger sister was with this time learning. Now tonight we will see if she can repeat her sister's luck.
