It's ice fishing season up here in NH, starts right after deer season ends . I love yellow perch and try to go after them 4-5 days a week. Retirement is so stressful !

Good catch for yesterday morning turned into perch casserole last night.View attachment 711205
Nice, got to enjoy a good perch pile. Finally got myself out on Friday to a little go to lake and took home my 20 perch limit. Nothing stellar for our area just average 9-10" fish but they make good fish sticks.

maybe the biggest bass i ever caught threw the ice. late ice fishing for tip up baits with tiny ice fly and 2# test on a shoolie reel. this bass hits me and the ride begins! he got in my other line, he got in my buddies line and almost pulled his pole in. it was a long enough battle on that light line the video is in 2 parts. yea my buddy was videoing after the first few min. of the battle. his commentary is a riot to listen to. so turn up the volume its almost decade old footage but still worth the watch.
9#bass pic from photobucket.jpg

she was released after measuring. those measurements said she was 9.25-9.5 pounds.

here the 2 vids

that pic of the kid with a walleye(or whatever it is) under his arm is awesome! lol id frame that one for the garage.

For the 1st time in recent memory we have decent ice on local ponds and after next weeks cold blast it should be around for a while.

yes we are getting some ice build up too. its slow making ice after new years even at these temps.

we love pike meat here. i bake the fillets rib side up. when it is baked the meat shrinks and the ends of the ybones stick up out of the meat. then you just pluck them all out and chow down! completely boneless then. onion garlic salt pepper paprika and butter pats on top. when done sprinkle lemon on them. very mild flavor and similar to walleye. 375 15-20min. for most decent size fillets. your missing out :)

Now we are talking. Chasing northern gators through the ice is on the list still this year. I have found that out of the ice cold water the bigger ones are very good table fair, little guys get a home in pickle jars

Tough to beat cold water pike. Just have never mastered the boneless. Have watched numerous videos and when it comes to actually doing, its fillet massacre.
