Hello everyone,

I've been following this forum for a few months now and finally made the decision to join. The forum appears to be an amazing resource with some very knowledgeable people.

We live in upstate NY where there are not many good barbecue restaurants. As a result, we are in the process of buying our first smoker so that we can make our own barbecue. We are definitely of the mindset that food is always better when you make it yourself. I'm looking forward to learning as much as possible about smoking and trying some of the great recipes that are posted on the forum.

We are hoping to get a smoker in the next few months. I want to buy one that will last "forever" and one that has enough capacity for a large family. I'm thinking about going all-in and getting a Klose pipe smoker. Hopefully that is a good decision.

I'm looking forward to being a part of this forum.

Welcome to the forum!  I got a Weber Smokey Mountain as my first smoker.  It might not last forever, but I've had it for over 4 years and it's still going strong.  It is easy to use and puts out some amazing Q!

That certainly would be an investment for one of those babies[emoji]9749[/emoji]
Hope you get something you have time to use.
:welcome:

We are in Horseheads, so about 2.5 hours east of Buffalo. It's in the Finger Lakes region and it's a great area to raise a family. Unfortunately, not much good BBQ though.

Thanks everybody for the suggestions regarding the other smokers. There are tons of options out there and it can be a little overwhelming for a newbie.

Good afternoon and welcome to the forum from a sunny, breezy and pretty darn nice day here in East Texas, and the best site on           the web.   Lots of great people with tons of information on just about everything.
