Is there any rule of thumb on hole spacing? Ready to lay out holes on a 14"w×20"l baffle and dont want to over vent plate. Was thinking 4 across evenly spaced and use that spacing for the length. Would start at .25"and max at 1.125". Am I on the right track? Its going in my new dyna-glo wide body. So much easier doing this disassembled.

That sounds a little small to me, but you can try that and monitor the temps. If the exhaust end is hotter than the FB end, drill the holes at the cool end out a little more. You can't make a hole smaller.

Bottom of vertical cc is 14"×24" and from reading has a notorious hot spot against fire box wall. Yeah, sounds small to me also. Seen acouple of baffle plates on here for the wide body and figured I do a horizon type bp design. Solid on a 6"-7" 40* down bend then vent holes on a 5* return leaving 4"open at end.
