I have used my weber kettle for years to make butts ribs wings turkey. Just charcoal with wood chips and chunks. Semi indirect via arrangement and aluminum foil baffles. simple but effective.

I wanted to get into sausage and some more challenging things like brisket. So I just picked up a master built electric analog 30.. base model.. Got Auber pid controller, put an adjustable stack meant for barrel smoker on top for airflow, drilled a 3/4 in hole in the lower side of the unit for air inlet, and using amnps tray for pellets. I'm an engineer i have enjoyed reading thru all the pages in mods to make, without this forum i would have no idea where to start!

now I'm ready to cook!!!!!

appreciate the warm welcome. here is my rig. the auber keeps temps spot on and the amnps creates plenty of smoke!! ramping up temp for some sausage thats on there now.
