Jacksonville Fl.
Hi everyone i'm Jeff from Jacksonville Fl.

I just got a new MES for Xmas from  my wife as she say's the charcoal flavor does not sit well on her stomach.

I had been using converted gas grills before I would recycle old gas grills and make them into smokers.

I am in my 50's and have always loved good BBQ all my life.

I used my new Masterbuilt 30 Electric 3 times and had very good results then all of a sudden it stopped smoking I tried all the trouble shooting tips also tried dry chips and I could not make anything but a good outdoor oven.

So I sent them a email and they wrote back that they wanted to talk to me on the phone, so I called them and talked to a very friendly woman (did not get her name) I told her everything that I had done with no results of smoke. So she told me she would send me a retrokit. So I installed it today which was very easy. Its chip box is about a 1/4 larger and it has worked great on a dry run.

I had to go out and get us a Turkey Breast for tomorrow to smoke.

I look forward to the tips and tricks from all the fellow wood smokers here.

First off welcome Jeff to SMF. I'm on the northside there Jeff where are you??? You'll like it here cause there are alot of really good folks that would just love to help you with anything to do with smoking. Now we like having new folks here to give a new prospective on some of the ways we do things around here. Now if you are really new then I would suggest that you sign up fir the 5-day E-course it free and it will give you the basics on smoking and a few recipes too. Here's a link to it:

http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/list/127

then you will have a method to your newly found madness and believe me it will be a madness. Then when you start smoking things you will have to learn how to post the pictures / Qview

here. So here's a link to a tutorial on how to post your Qview so we can see what your doing.

 http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/thread/82034/how-to-post-qview-to-smf

Now the next thing you have to do is run out and get something to smoke. Then just smoke it and if you have any questions just post  them here and we will answer all your questions that you might have. Oh yea there's no stupid questions we were all there in the beginning and we just really like to help others enjoy the fabulous smoked foods that we do. So again

Welcome Jeff, nice to see some new faces.  a quick tip for easy cleanup in your MES. wrap your water pan and drip tray with tin foil. dont forget to poke a drain hole in the foil were the drain is at and also put some foil on top of your smoke box/heating element housing.  when you get done with your smoke just toss those items and add new.

Glad to have you aboard!  Plenty of knowledge and experience here to help everyone learn a thing or two.

Even the folks who have been using smokers for a long time chime in with a "wow!  what a great idea!" every now and then, so don't be afraid to show everyone what you've done (both good and bad!)

Looking forward to seeing that turnkey breast when it's done!

Cheers!
