Hey y'all, Lee here from Jonesboro, Arkansas. Just joined up and figured I'd start here like the FAQ says.
Barbecue's been in my family a long time. My dad, Jim Quessenberry, cooked competition back in the '80s and won the Irish Cup, International BBQ World Champion, in Ireland in 1985 and again in 1987. He passed in 2000, and my brother Michael and I have kept his pits going ever since.
Full disclosure so nobody's surprised later: our family makes a barbecue sauce and a couple of rubs, and we ship every bottle ourselves. I'm not here to sell anything, though. I'm here to cook, learn some new tricks, and swap notes with folks who love this as much as I do.
These days my go-to is a Weber kettle running indirect. I've got a Traeger on the patio for easy cooks, and for competitions my brother and I run a custom smoker built from an old oil tank. He swears by his barrel smoker for brisket.
Glad to be here. Looking forward to learning from y'all.

Welcome from Kansas City. Great bunch around here, your going to enjoy it.

Well y'all sure know how to make a fella feel at home. Thank you, every one of you.

@rjob, Epworth NC! Thank you. Dad was a character, and I'm proud to carry it on. What are you running down there, and are you a vinegar man like most of NC?

@Compulsive Smoker, thanks for the welcome from PA. What's been coming off your smoker lately?

@normanaj, hello back from Arkansas. Rhode Island's a long way from here. What's your favorite thing to cook?

@Brokenhandle, thanks, Ryan. Iowa's pork country, so I bet you do some good chops. What's your go-to cooker?

@mr_whipple, appreciate it! What do y'all like to smoke up in Virginia?

@sandyut, thank you. Do you have to change anything cooking at that Colorado altitude? I've always wondered.

@Colin1230, coming from Kansas City, that means something. I can already tell this is a good bunch. Burnt ends or ribs, if you had to pick one?

@JIMSMOKES, good name, I'll say that much! Thanks from Arkansas. What are you cooking on up there?

@1MoreFord, good to see another Arkie! Whereabouts are you? Dad was over in Birdeye.

@yankee2bbq, hey neighbor! Mountain Home's a pretty part of the state. We're not quite in full swing up that way again. We were in Harp's for a while and we're working to expand back that direction. I appreciate you asking, though. What do you like to cook up there? Lake country seems like it'd be good for smoked fish.

I did some chicken thighs on Sunday and have a pork belly in the brine for smoking this Saturday. I had given a sample to my pastor, and now he wants a whole one for his family... also did some bacon jerky the other day that turned out pretty good.

I can hardly wait to see pics of that custom smoker you were talking about!

What's up next for you?
