I just got the new smoker and have a problem, the fat from the meat gathers in the bottom and leaks out where the legs are joined.

I have tried aluminum foil but it does not seem to help a lot.

Has anyone else had this problem and what have you done. It is a propane model.

I need an easy fix as I do not have welders etc. available to me.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Mine does much the same. I put small aluminum pie pans under the legs to catch the drippings.

Hope this helps!

Take care, have fun, and do good!

Regards,

Meowey

Can you take some Qview to show us specifically where the problem is? Possibly someone could suggest a mod to fix it.

I just use one of those grill mats and hose it off now and again. Come to think of it it really doesn't do that anymore so I'm thinking whatever holes the grease was leaking thru must of clogged up. So to me it sounds like your not smoking enough!

I had the same problem, take the leg mounting screws out one at a time and dab a little hi-temp silicon gasket sealer on the underside of the screw head and then retighten it.

I have the same problem. This stems from the fact that the floor of the smoker is spot-welded and leaves cracks for the oil to drip out. I also get them on the GOSM's legs and all around the sides sometimes too. My garage floor is nasty from it. Tried using my pressure washer to clean the floor but didnt' help much.

My 3405GW does the same thing. I just put a small stoneware plate under each leg...it catches most of it but not all. If the smoker isn't perfectly level, it will drip out heavier in the lowest place. I've never tried to seal it up, as mentioned above, as my smokers stay in the same place all the time so the mess is small and contained.

I use the grill mat too its like a giant pan then just wash it once in awhile

i use a big oil drip pan used for cars which catches all the grease and when done, take it out in the yard and hose it off with dawn dish soap

I placed my GOSM on a dirt floor. What fat??

With my GOSM, I just use drip pans (aluminum foil) whenever I smoke, and have never had this problem. I suppose you could get a big ole drip pan for like under your car, and put it under the whole smoker, but it seems like overkill to me. Foil pans work great.

hope this helps

With my first GOSM smoker the only time I had that problem was when I lent it out. The difference between us was I used sand as heat sink and he used water. Not saying that this could be your problem but I never had issues with that.

Pretty common I think... I notice it when doing brisket or spraying apple juice on my ribs. I purchased small plastic dishes you place under flower pots and put them under each leg. That works pretty well.

You can by a big stack of square aluminum pans pretty cheap at Sam's Club (probably Costco too). I alway place one under anything I smoke (unless all racks are full of course), then I also have a grill matt. ( I have a GOSM as well).

Mine just leaks down one leg so I put a small pan under the leg.
