Been a serious lurker for a while now and decided to take full advantage of the forum. Have enjoyed reading many posts and have tried a couple of the recipes and techniques y'all have shared. My first smoker was a Royal Oak electric I found at a yard sale about 10 years ago. Ruined several efforts, couldn't get any smoke going and the temps were all over the place. Then I picked up a used Weber Kettle and did some Pork spare ribs that turned out AWESOME! I was hooked. My next attempt was a Spatchcock Turkey that turned out really good, just got the wings a little too crisp. So I started researching smokers and was particularly interested in the horizontal off set units. Continued researching and realized that I would be better off getting a good electric smoker and thanks to so many of you providing your experiences, trials and successes I decided on the MES40 with the Bluetooth feature. Our local Sam's Club has them on special right now so I jumped on it. Looking forward to getting started assembling it and then seasoning it. Haven't decided what to do for the first smoke, but I'll keep it fairly simple for sure. Along with the interest in learning how to smoke food I am also learning how to cook with Dutch Ovens, once again thank you to those members who have shared their experience with cast iron.
I enjoy hunting and fishing here in Arizona and the Missus and I enjoy boating when we get the chance. When we're not working, we spend time with family (Daughter w/ 3 boys, one set of twins, Son and Daughter in law in SW Colorado that are expecting their first next June - Grandma has put in her request for a girl!!)
