Hey guys and gals, justed wanted to stop by and say hi, long time self taught cook, smoked alot with my Webber kettle grill, and now I'm putting the finishing touches on my first dedicated smoker, I didn't want to buy one so I built one myself.
Hopefully I'll get it fired sometime this week.

It's not done yet, so don't be too harsh on it. I'll update the picture in a few days once I finish it. Hopefully over the weekend.

Thanks guys, I am hoping for success with the double barrel, I knew I wanted something with two chambers, i was originally going to build a propane tank offset, but I didn't like how heavy it would have been. Then I thought about a smoke shack but I thought I might want to be able to take it along places. Also I didn't want to spend a ton of time and money building it as i wanted to spend more time smoking!

Or course I spent more money than I thought I would and it took me longer to build then I expected. I thought I was going to build the whole thing in a day and as pictured I probably have two and a half in it.

Welcome to SMF!
That is a very interesting design.
I'm very much looking forward to seeing it in action!

Hmmm... Do you mean it won't work? Please tell me if you think I made a flaw of any sort.
I would rather change something now.

Man, some projects just take two steps forward and one step back, the other night I was close to finishing up when I managed to dump the thing over and crush my HVAC duct, vent stack. Also put a dent in my upper barrel.
I was able to pound out the dents, but I haven't got the vent stack done.
I did however spend a little time putting down some pavers to make a permanent home for it.
Hopefully I'll get it fired soon, it's killing me at this point.

Sure thing, my first smoke will be a couple chickens. I will probably get it seasoned this week, anyone know how long I should fire it to season the barrels?
