I'm Stan ,52 years young, been visiting  occasionally for some time.nice site. currently smoke on a large BGE love it but have been looking at an electric unit, I smoke mostly ribs, butts.and an occasional brisket, thinking of starting snack sticks&sausage that's why I'm thinking of an electric smoker

Hey Stan, welcome. You have come to the right place, Loads of information, great people. Should be quite a few member that can steer you in the right direction on sausage making.

Welcome Stan.

I have a pair of electric hot smokers (Bradley and Cookshack) and a couple of the Luhr-Jensen top loading Little Chief smokers for cold smoking and use whichever is right for the sausage I'm making. For me, an electric smoker is a lot easier for making sausage than anything else I've tried.

Where in NC are you?  We've got family in the Thurmond-Elkin area.  When we get tired of the NY taxes and snow we will likely wind up in NC someplace.

Hi Stan, and welcome. I was born and raised in WNC, but live in Myrtle Beach SC now.

I've only owned the Masterbuilt 40 for an electric, so I can only speak for it. Mine has worked well, and I've been very pleased. Some people have had issues with it, so the reviews are mixed. You can read the reviews and see what you think.

I didn't like the chip tray and the way it burnt rather than smoldered the chips, so that is my only complaint so far. I've just ordered the AMNPS so will be using it in the future, so the chip tray issue is a moot point for me going forward.

Good luck to you!
