Kearney, MO
I live in Kearney, Missouri (birthplace of Jesse James) just north of Kansas City.

I received an ECB as a service anniversary gift several years ago.  It sat in my garage and did not get used until early last year.  After some frustration with the ECB I found this forum and ended up adding all of the mods to my ECB. Although it is a lot better I still spend a lot of time temp-sitting and I would like to branch into some longer than 4-5 hour smokes.  I am going to Cabelas tonight to purchase a MES 40.  I will be smoking a turkey breast and ribs this weekend.

I've smoked ribs, turkeys, ham, chicken, trout, and salmon.  My family has graciously agreed to continue allowing me to hone my skills on them.  I guess that means I'm doing ok.

I want to say thank you to all of you on here that have given so much knowlege to us newbies.

Happy smoking!

Welcome to SMF,Glad to have you with us.

I will be lookin' forward to some turkey breast Qview this weekend.

Congrats on the MES, I think you will be pleased.

First off welcome to SMF. You'll like it here cause there are alot of really good folks that would just love to help you with anything to do with smoking. Now we like having new folks here to give a new prospective on some of the ways we do things around here. Now if you are really new then I would suggest that you sign up fir the 5-day E-course it free and it will give you the basics on smoking and a few recipes too. Here's a link to it:

http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/list/127

then you will have a method to your newly found madness and believe me it will be a madness. Then when you start smoking things you will have to learn how to post the pictures / Qview

here. So here's a link to a tutorial on how to post your Qview so we can see what your doing.

 http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/thread/82034/how-to-post-qview-to-smf

Now the next thing you have to do is run out and get something to smoke. Then just smoke it and if you have any questions just post  them here and we will answer all your questions that you might have. Oh yea there's no stupid questions we were all there in the beginning and we just really like to help others enjoy the fabulous smoked foods that we do. So again

Welcome to Your New Addiction

Go GATORS

Welcome! There are great people here with a lot of knowledge, personalities, and skills. Can't wait to see some Q-View from you and someone will be along with a link to the great 5 day course for Qing. I have been Qing most of my life and I still got a great read from the lessons. Since I'm watching hockey I'll say LET"S GO CAPS!!!

Welcome to SMF - glad you  are making progress and the family is hanging in there with you

Thanks to all for the welcomes.  I've taken the 5 day course and I have really been following the forums for a while.  I got my new MES 40 home and put together last night.  I will be seasoning it Friday night and hopefully smoking on Saturday.  I will try to post some q-view.

Last night my brother just asked me to do the Easter ham for the family.  Great thing is, he is buying the ham!!!

Oh, and the outlaw Jesse James is not doing to well these days although the whole town does have a week long festival each year to celebrate him.  Complete with mud volleyball, a rodeo, food, dance, and a parade...Go figure!
