Hello from Grand Blanc Michigan.

I just got my first smoker, a Great Outdoors Smokey Mountain wide body (after reading posts on here). I read all the debates about electric vs propane vs charcol but I decided that since I've never used a smoker in my life that propane would probaby be a bit easier to learn on.

Every fathers day I have both sets of parents over for a nice cook out and last year I tried to make some ribs on the grill using some crazy recipe and basically they came out horrid. This year I was determined to avenge myself so I got a smoker and even though it was its maiden voyage I still managed to create magic in that thing. I did 9 pounds of ribs with a crazy Carolina style sauce and a beer can chicken just to fill the rest of the space in the smoker, then my wife finished it off with two fantastic salads and a cake that tasted like a York Peppermint Patty. Now I need to start to refine my style so I can get as good as some of you guys on here. I still have a long LONG way to go and a lot to learn but with a great resource like this one I know I'll have help along the way.

Thanks!

Russ
