Hello fellow smokers,

I am new to smoking meat and would love learn tips, tricks, recipes and anything else to get a good swing on this lifestyle. I am from Cape Coral, Florida and just purchased a new Brinkmann Trailmaster LE to start my journey with. So far I have tried a rack of ribs and quarter chicken legs on it. Ribs came out ok, chicken was good but seemed to take forever, but like I said, I am here to learn and help out also. Looking forward to meeting new friends and teachers on here. Happy Smoking Everyone!!!

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "SMF User Guidelines" .....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per TulsaJeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

Life's good, just threw a whole chicken on the smoker. First time doing one so I'll see how I do in about 3 hours :) how about the east coast? Anything interesting

Welcome to your new addiction (the forums and smoking)... If you've not read about the S. FL. Gathering coming up in a few weeks, you might want to check into it... Link will be at the end... A bunch of us get together at a campground (Highlands Hammack St. Park, Sebring) and smoke up a bunch of good food... We are also going to be making a bunch of sausage this year as well (since it was a big hit at the N. FL gathering, which is usually in April).... You are more than welcome to come and join us (if even for a day)... Dates are Nov 8-10 but most will get there on thursday the 7th.. sausage will be made thursday-friday... then main day is Sat.... we have a friendly competition with chicken at noon and ribs and special dish at 6... We ask unsuspecting campers to be judges and pick their favorite.... it's all in fun and good food.... C'mon by you'll be surprised at the things you will/can learn.....

and again.. welcome to your new addiction...
