Headed Through Kansas City Where Should I Stop??

Hey everyone, my wife and I are headed to Kansas this weekend, the route takes us through Kansas City. Just wondering if anyone has any recommended stops for us?

Thinking a BBQ place for lunch but I'd also like to check out any cool BBQ stores where I might find a gadget I have to have. We don't have too many options here in Iowa.

For sure you need to go to this store. http://www.thekansascitybbqstore.com/ .  Best retail of BBQ supplies I have ever seen.  Loaded with sauces,rubs, and wood chips.  It is in Olathe, suburb to the south.

Oklahoma Joes BBQ restaurant is just around the corner as well.  I ate at Rosedale BBQ two days ago and it was quite good.  Fiorellas Jack Stack is one of my favorites but it is a little more on the nice and sophisticated side of BBQ.  I like Gates BBQ for brisket.

I ate at Smoking Guns in K C , wife and I say it was the best we ever had. They were on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

Josh, evening....   “Lil Jake’s Eat it an’ Beat it”   I ate there twice in 2006, when it was a "take out" basically in downtown...  It has since moved.... Interesting article why it had to move attached....

Personally , in my case, I'd stop at a Rest Stop and do my own. Better than the old stale stuff you get at the places in town...

but I Anal and tempermental. kinda trusy my cooking more...
