It is a wireless temp probe that has a sensor in the tip and at the other end.  It claims to monitor the meat temp and the ambient temp in the cooker.  All electronics are enclosed in the probe and it bluetooth connects to a smart phone.  I've been in the electronics field my entire life and know that they don't like excessive heat.  How can this work?

I just ran across the kickstarter campaign.  If they can make it happen, it will be a game changer.

Wow that will be something if it works properly... I wonder what cost will be and calibration issues? Going to have to watch that one for a while and see....

It looks really good but I suspect that the project has stalled. The expected ship date was supposed to be Jan 2016

I am a backer of the project and get updates on a regular basis. The single probe version is almost ready for shipping. The Meater Block (4 probes complete with WiFi base) won't be ready until later this year.

Delays did manifest themselves due to design changes in early prototypes to increase reliability and durability.

Apple and Android apps are already available on Google Play and the Apple App Store but are worthless without the probes. Take that for what it's worth.

As for pricing, I believe the single probe will be available for $99 but it only has Bluetooth connectivity. The Meater Block will go for about $190. It has 4 probes, Control Base, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity.

Even with the delays, I firmly believe this product will see commercial availability.

ETA: I believe they received over 7 Million US dollars to bring this product to market. So they had good financial backing.
