Has anyone hung bellies with NON sharpened "S" hooks?

Wondering if the hooks NEED to be sharpened and if a NON sharpened hook will
go into the belly easily?

If the skin is on i have hard time even with a sharp hook. I usualy cut a slit in the skin, then push the hook thru. A blunt hook will not penetrate the fat/meat easily.
