We get quite a bit of wildlife around here. Some good, some not so good.

These guys are some of the good ones. Sand hill cranes with their babies.

The chicks are about 2-3 weeks old. Their nest is about 100 yards from our house.

Today was the first day they brought the little ones over for a snack.

I'm sure they will be back for lunch!

Cool! We see sand hill cranes up at one of our lakes every year. But that's the only place. First time I saw them I thought someone had lost there emus!

Nice!

Hope their digestive system isn't anywhere near of the Canadian Goose

i was expecting something a little more X-files,nice pic of the cranes!

Good eating????? Sorry, had to say it
Actually, they didn't used to be a protected bird.

I have an old cracker friend who has lived here all his life & he used to eat them.

He says they were the best eating bird he ever had.

They sure have a lot of meat on their breasts.

Not much in the leg dept. though.
