I've got in my new gauges from BBQ factory. Does anybody know if they come calibrated or is there a good way to check them?

To check them, put the probe into ice water and look for 32*, then in boiling water and look for 212*. Be careful not to get the wire wet, only the probe.

Yes, hold by the edges of the dial and stick the probe on the back into the water. They usually sense within the last inch of the probe, so you won't have to put it in far. Be sure to stir the water right before you test so the water temp will be uniform.

DMWTX79, I have a pair of those same gauges. I know that mine both read about 15 degrees higher that what's really going on. They are great decorative pieces and will give you a good "ballpark" range.

Thanks! I think I can make that work. Just built this rig and now have bigger issues. My temps are way off from horizontal and the vertical. Back to thinking table, guessing bigger exhaust.
