I despise gas grills for lack of flavor or tasting the previous grill.
Wife and I are currently resort living and gas is the only option.
I got a $1 discount pickup from box store called Smokestack

I used the smokestack on tonight's grilling of prime strip loin.
The conditions were not good.

This the worst gas grill I've encountered in resort environment. The inverted V grates don't build enough heat.

Here is the SmokeStack

Basically a can filled with small chips and sawdust with hole in lid.

Placed on the heat plate.

You can barely see the thin smoke due to the flare up from the steak fat.
Those are 2 prime strip loin on the grate.
The smokestack added a very light flavor to the steaks.

Very light sear marks on the steak, but I got it cooked to my favorite medium.
Complimented with a bagged salad kit from Wally World.

My summary?
Smokestack 1
Solaire grill 0

Thanks
I have 3 tubes on (u-bolts thanks to you @normanaj) but no torch at the moment to light it off.
I just wanted to give this a try.
I'm looking for a store that sells bulk pellets. I have a bag of Lumberjack charcoal/hickory at home and forgot to pack some.
